Q. Where is HIMG?

A. HIMG is located on Rt. 60, right off the 29th Street Exit.

Address: 5170 US Rt. 60 E, Huntington, WV 25705

Q. What is HIMG?

A. Huntington Internal Medicine Group

It is a group of health professionals offering different outpatient care health services. It is a comprehensive care center where overall wellness is the main objective. *Praise Hands* Read more: About HIMG

Q. Who Should See a Dietitian?

A. If you are human, you could benefit from learning about nutrition. "No matter your condition, talk about nutrition with a dietitian." I will work with you, starting with what you have and where you're at, to help you help yourself. Becoming more educated on something we need to do every day to live is only going to benefit you. It sure did for myself!

Common conditions I see: Obesity and weight loss, weight gain, diabetes, kidney disease (including dialysis), IBS, gastroparesis, Chron's disease, celiac disease, heart health, PCOS and female nutrition, tube feedings. Is your condition not on the list? Reach out and we can discuss.

Q. Will Insurance Cover My Visit?

A. You do not need to be an established patient at HIMG to make a dietitian appointment, but all new patients will need a physician referral. After you have talked with your doctor and they have made a referral for HIMG's dietitian, your insurance will be checked for coverage. Coverage is based on your condition and insurance policy, and your number of visits included for MNT (Medical Nutrition Therapy) may differ. If you are not a patient at HIMG and need a physician referral form let me know.

Currently I accept: Aetna, BCBS Commercial, BCBS Freedom Blue Medicare, Caresource Marketplace WV, Coventry Healthcare, Healthplan of Upper Ohio Valley, PEIA, Humana, Medicare WV, Medicare Railroad, PHCS/Multiplan, TriWest, UHC/Mamsi, UMWA, AARP. More will be added in future.

Q. What If My Insurance Does Not Cover a Visit?

A. Out-of-pocket fees are an option and I will work with you based on your financial needs. Ask for details.

Q. What Can I Expect at An Appointment?

At your initial appointment, we will get to know each other, talk about your top concerns, and, together, we will make small goals that fit you and your life. At follow-up appointments, we will evaluate, modify, and build knowledge and skills. Follow-up appointments are crucial for most. I am a fan of small changes and giving ourselves grace as we work towards bettering ourselves and our health. It's a process, but so worth it. A patient once told me, "You don't know how bad you feel, until you don't feel bad anymore."

For the first appointment, I like to set aside one hour. Follow-up appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes. All you need to bring is yourself... + a dash of optimism can't hurt. :)

Q. What Other Services Do I Offer?

A.Other than private nutrition consulting, you can learn more about nutrition through:

-Diabetes education group class: This is a comprehensive care group class taught by myself, HIMG's psychologist, and HIMG's endocrinology nurse practitioner. The full package for pre-diabetic and diabetic healthcare! The class is offered every other Wednesday at HIMG, you must sign up before attending. Insurance will be billed. Contact 304-528-4600 for more information and/or to sign up. *See flyer at bottom.

-Lunch and Learn group classes: I will aim to provide these classes 1x/month. These classes are free and open to public, and lunch is kindly provided by HIMG. I will cover various nutrition topics, and topic requests are always welcomed. Check the Herald Dispatch and/or HIMG's Facebook for upcoming class details.

-Community events: Providing classes, presentations, or food displays for various groups of the community. Have a group or event that would like my services? Just ask.
